E-Commerce Model
The research group Electronic Commerce of the economic faculty from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam investigated a large number of webshops on the quality of their services and their sales; in the period of 1998 – 2002.
Their goal was to discover what the driving factors are for successful sales on the internet. Based on this research Jungle Rating has developed her current expert model. This model is called the Landscape Model (see illustration).
The Landscape Model consists of 16 dimensions that together describe the service and sales process on the internet.
Research proved that there is a positive relation between the scores on these 16 dimensions and the number of transactions per 100 unique customers (the conversion ratio).
A checklist for every area
Jungle Rating further developed specialized checklists for different businesses in the B2C and B2B market. Jungle Rating was able to do so, because of its extensive knowledge of these businesses from an economical perspective.
The success of the Landscape Model
The use of the expert model has the following advantages:

- A strong tool that helps stimulate the development process of the webshop: The methodology creates a common language
- A webshop, which optimally reflects the different motivations of different customers
- An optimal conversion rate
